Abstract
The Art of Teaching | Engineering Art Lecture Series
Teaching is an art and so is engineering. Mastering both arts requires interest, talent, role models, and a lifetime of dedication.
A series of seminars will be held at Purdue’s Lyles School of Civil Engineering in 2017 on the art of teaching engineering. The speakers are renowned teachers and mentors whose effectiveness as teachers has been proven by the success of their students. Three presentations have been scheduled, with more speakers to be announced later this year:
- Luis Garcia presented on Friday, March 31st
- Jim Jirsa presented on Tuesday, April 11th
- Michele Calvi presented on Thursday, April 20th
The talks will redirect the spotlight to the core goal of the university: to teach. Join us and learn from the experiences of the presenters, their teaching techniques, and memories of the teachers who inspired them to join the teaching trade.
The series is sponsored by Pentair, producer of ERICO and LENTON engineering products.
