Abstract
Title: RAPID: Mapping of Earthquake Damage in Precast Buildings in Christchurch, New Zealand (NEES-2011-1046)
Year Of Curation: 2013
Description: Following powerful earthquakes between September 2010 and June 2011 near Christchurch, New Zealand, an expedition to document damage in precast concrete structures was undertaken. During a two-week site visit, damage observations were logged and sensors for system identification and earthquake monitoring were deployed. Two precast concrete structures were investigated; a 5-story parking garage with structural walls and a 9-story hotel with a moment-resisting frame. Damage documentation was achieved through photographic evidence and field notes. Structural monitoring was achieved with eighteen channels of acceleration data recording ambient vibrations as well as dozens of small aftershocks.
