Abstract

Tests of Reinforced Concrete Structural Walls with Different Opening Arrangements

This dataset contains data from tests of five quarter-scale, three-story tall reinforced concrete structural walls under reversed cyclic loading. The aim of the testing program was to evaluate the strength and stiffness of walls with different opening arrangements. The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science sponsored the research through Grant Number 17H03341.

Five specimens were tested. One was solid, and the other four contained different arrangements of equal-sized door openings (one per floor). The specimens were as follows:

  • WN0: No openings
  • WD1: Diagonal opening arrangement
  • WV1: Aligned openings, offset to one side
  • WV2: Aligned openings offset to one side on the second and third floors, and first floor opening offset
  • WV3: Aligned openings offset to one side on the second and third floors, and first floor opening offset more

Shown below are the damage states of the specimens with openings at the end of testing:

Included in this dataset are:

  • Reports describing the testing program, including drawings of specimens, test setups, and sensor locations
  • Data from the experiments
  • Data from material tests
  • Photographs of construction and testing
  • Crack map drawings, including crack width measurements
