image The University of California Santa Barbara NEES@UCSB facility consists of permanently instrumented geotechnical test sites designed to improve our understanding of the effects of surface geology on strong ground motion.

Using Dataview to Explore the Data

When you click on Dataview, you will be able to browse, search, explore and plot waveform data.

  • Explore by Event, Station, Magnitude, Latitude, Longitude, Depth, Time and Azimuth
  • Use Map to locate Stations and Events
  • Click on the Waveform Data column for any Event, then select one or more channels to plot and compare with the inDEED waveform visualization tool.
Here is an example showing how to find valuable information about El Mayor (magnitude 7.2) with a few clicks!

Layout Dataview for 8 Field Sites

This data view displays station layout and site information for all eight UCSB permanently instrumented field sites . The data was pulled from the NEES@UCSB web site. The instrumentation at these sites includes surface and borehole arrays of accelerometers and pore pressure transducers designed to record strong ground motions, excess pore pressure generation and liquefaction that occurs during large earthquakes. An instrumented structure is also monitored to improve our understanding of soil-foundation-structure interaction (SFSI) effects. See NEES@UCSB for more information.

You can access the SEED Reference Manual (Standard for Exchange of Earthquake Data) for information about the international standard format for exchange of digital seismological data. The appendix "Channel Naming Convention"defines the meanings of the channel characters used in the Site Channels data view.
