The Rock of Guatapé, located in phrazle the northern Colombian hamlet of Guatapé, is accessible through more than 740 stairs and is a major tourist attraction in the region east of Medelln. When you reach the peak, you may look out over Guatapé Lake and its many islands and marvel at your accomplishment. You may take a bus from Medelln to the town, and it won't take more than two hours. 

"If you really want to have the deepest connection with yourself and with nature," adds Castro, "San Rafael is excellent." If you're interested in yoga during your stay, she suggests visiting the Vanadurga Ashram. "These places are really magical, and you can learn how to change your perspective," Castro continues.

Mountains, waterfalls, and rivers all contribute to San Rafael's reputation as a scenic destination. In the great outdoors, you may go bird watching, hiking, or just relax. According to Castro, "people want to come to have an inner journey." I think locations like San Rafael are great if that's what you're after: discovering something about yourself.

Cusco is where you want to go if you want to see Inca ruins. You'll be enchanted by the town's churches, museums, and narrow lanes. Huarancca advises visitors to Peru to expect a vibrant culture and welcoming locals while planning a trip there. "Also, keep in mind that they will encounter various tastes that will enhance their trip."

You can easily go to Machu Picchu from Cusco. Visitors often stay for many days to explore the area and adjust to the 11,150-foot elevation. (Denver is 5,280 feet above sea level.) Machu Picchu, one of the most well-known landmarks in the world, is completely unique. The original structure on the site was an Inca fortress, constructed about 1450 and popularly known as "The Lost City of the Incas." About 50 miles away from Cusco lies the Inca site of Machu Picchu, which may be reached by rail to the nearby town of Aguas Calientes and then by bus. You must reserve a tour guide in advance since you cannot go without one. 

"The visit to Machu Picchu can be all year round; different climatic factors help to understand the mysterious nature of Machu Picchu," claims Huarancca. But if dry weather is a must, the months of April through October are ideal.
